Artist: William Schweigert

William Schweigert is a multimedia artist living and working in Atlanta, Georgia. William recently received his B.F.A. from Georgia State University, and has shown (WHAT?) extensively throughout Atlanta. William investigates familial and cultural mythologies with his work. Topics include: the ancestral war hero, the American Dream, and civil rights as it relates to both race and sex. William views the role of an artist as one who can create a useful dialogue.  This is what he intends for his work to do.

Inspiration:
Aliyah L.

Aliyah is 18 years old and has been a member of the Douglas County Club for five years.  She says that the BGCMA has provided her with opportunities of a lifetime through the Girl Power Summit, Youth of the Year, Keystone Club and College Bound programs.  She has learned how to be a leader and wants to work for the FBI as a Criminal Intelligence Analyst when she graduates from college.  To her, the best part of BGCMA is being accepted – it’s a home away from home.
