Artist: Stephanie Raborn

Stephanie Raborn is visual artist out of Atlanta, Georgia. A Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree-holder with a minor in Drawing, Painting and Printmaking, the training she received in Psychology serves to inform her art practice and guides the analytical approach in which she creates process-oriented drawings. Her work centers on the concept of time, and drawings are reflections on specific points in time and how we choose to navigate them. Each blur, smudge, and mark that she creates within a piece represents a passage of time, an instance that she has either tried to wipe out, forget, or retro-actively alter, as we as humans constantly engage our memories and experiences.

Inspiration:
Cedric B.

Cedric Brown is an alumnus of the Youth Art Connection (“YAC”).  He says that BGCMA opened his mind to many things and presented him with opportunities that he could have not gotten anywhere else, providing him with a foundation for success.  He won his first art competition with YAC in tenth grade; his painting was a vision that he had of people wearing clothing that he designed. Today, Cedric is a student at Savannah College of Art & Design, majoring in fashion design and minoring in painting.  To him, the best part of BGCMA is that it teaches kids that the sky is the limit and that they can reach their dreams.
