Artist: Meg Aubrey

Meg Aubrey is an Atlanta based painter whose work examines the iconic suburban experience and its effects on the women who inhabit it. Her subjects are pared down and scrutinized to reveal a disquieting psychological isolation present within these seemingly idyllic planned communities.  Meg has a MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design and a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. She has been awarded the Hambidge Residency Award from the Fulton County Arts Council, the Encore Series Award from Savannah College of Art and Design and was selected as a finalist for the Forward Arts Emerging Artist Award for 2011. Meg is an adjunct professor of Foundations Studies at Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta. She is represented by Whitespace Gallery, Atlanta.

Inspiration:
Tamika B.

Tamika is 17 years old and has been a member of the Paulding County Club for ten years. She loves meeting new people and wants to travel; when she grows up, she wants to go into sports marketing.  She says the BGCMA has helped her become a better person, given her a safe place where she is not judged, and helped her develop confidence by giving her leadership positions in Keystone and Torch Club.  To her, the best part of BGCMA is the amazing relationship she has with the staff – they “love, guide and support me, and encourage me to pursue my dreams.”
