Vertical Zoe

Artist: Jane Garver

Jane Garver is an artist working in Atlanta, Georgia. She attempts to create art in the public realm, beginning with anti-isolationist practices such as making work on Marta, in museums, and in the doctor's office. She makes public art with an emphasis on interaction: twenty illuminated Voice Boxes that sing captured songs of strangers from Atlanta, a three-story projection of the contrails of an audience's paper airplanes changing in real time, sixty-foot Slinkys suspended overhead that snake with the pull of a line.  As a recipient of MINT Gallery’s Leap Year award, Jane Garver has been striving to find ways to further community connections by art-making. She can often be found collaborating, volunteering, and wearing an occasional gorilla mask or light up jumpsuit if the circumstances call for it.  She favors embracing daily events and conversations as an endless supply of source material, approaching art making as a lifestyle and a state of mind.
